An official Lake Eden clean up day was held on Saturday 1st November, arranged by Dave Norman of the Mango Hill & North Lakes Environment Group.

There was a great turnout by the community including members of the Bahai Organisation, ParkRun, Oracle Volunteers and federal MP Luke Howarth.

Lake Eden Clean Up Day

Lake Eden is a prominent nature reserve and a focal point for visitors and residents of the North Lakes community. It’s natural health and beauty reflects upon all residents and we are thankful to have some very pro-active environmental conservationists such as Dave Norman in our community. Dave has this month deservedly been awarded the 2014 State Environmental Award for Murrumba for his work in the community.

The clean up day was a huge success, notwithstanding that thrirteen bags of rubbish did not blow in from the last storm. We ask all residents to care for our extensive natural environment here in North Lakes and Mango Hill by taking their rubbish with them or placing rubbish in the bin at all times.

Rubbish pulled from Lake Eden

A 1 trolley, a tyre, a crate and 13 sacks of rubbish, mainly bottles and cans, were removed. The day was topped off with a bbq supplied by the Lakeside Cafe and drinks donated by Oracle. Dave, who is a singer/songwriter supplied his original and inspired wildlife songs.

Dave Norman is the driving force behind the Mango Hill & North Lakes Environmental Group. You can follow their activities such as the Bushcare Program and become involved by getting in touch from their Facebook Page – Mango Hill & North Lakes Environment Group.
