Hazard Reduction Burn – North Lakes and Deception Bay

Moreton Bay Regional Council will undertake a bushfire hazard reduction burn today at three locations within the North Lakes Environment Reserve between North Lakes and Deception Bay.

Fire management crews will conduct controlled burns along parts of the reserve near Anthony Court, Wallaroo Circuit and White Cedar Circuit.

Residents in North Lakes, Deception Bay, Mango Hill and surrounding suburbs may notice smoke both during and after the burn.

Residents and businesses should keep away from the burn during and in the days following the event.

Asthmatics and people sensitive to smoke are advised to stay indoors and keep their windows and doors closed.

Motorists in the area should drive to the conditions.

Pets and livestock should be secured, if necessary.

Hazard reduction burn crews work closely with the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services to undertake planned burns.
