Member for Murrumba Chris Whiting has secured $5 million to build a new multipurpose hall at Bounty Boulevard State School!

Mr Whiting said he shared the good news with the school community today after years of campaigning.

“The Palaszczuk Government will invest $5 million to build a new school hall at Bounty Boulevard State School as part of our $200 million Advancing Queensland Schools funding package,” he said.

“The Bounty Boulevard school community have been calling for a new school hall for many years.

“Bounty Boulevard is now the largest Prep to Year 6 school in Queensland, and has lacked a fit-for-purpose venue to host assemblies, events and indoor sports.

“I know how important this facility is and I am proud to have delivered for our community.

“I want to congratulate the school leadership, the P&C and broader school community for their efforts to secure this funding.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the difference this hall makes to education at Bounty Boulevard State School.”

Mr Whiting said the project was expected to go to tender next month.

“Our government is determined to give every student in every school the best possible education,” he said.

“That means delivering the teachers, curriculum and school facilities we need to give students the best chance at success.

“This project will also create vital jobs for local tradies and more opportunities for apprentices and trainees.” Mr Whiting said.

The school hall at Bounty Boulevard State School is Chris Whiting’s top priority in this 2017 /18 budget bid lodged with the Treasurer, Curtis Pitt.

Chris Whiting has been lobbying the State Minister for Education Kate Jones, and the Treasurer Curtis Pitt for over a year for a new hall.

“Bounty Boulevard is now the state’s biggest primary school and I agree they need a fully enclosed school hall so kids can get a fully rounded education at this school,” Mr Whiting said.

“I am also pushing for continued construction of new classrooms for Bounty Boulevard, Mango Hill, and Griffin State Schools as well as North Lakes State College.
