Aurora Boulevard Park Upgrade

Moreton Bay Regional Council are funding a $418,000 facility upgrade of Aurora Boulevard Park, including the construction of new amenities and storage.

Councillor for Division Four, Julie Greer, said the project was great news for the local community, and would help boost the capacity of Aurora Boulevard Park to host local sporting teams and community activities.

“Council is committed to creating a strong sporting and outdoor culture in Moreton Bay, and I can’t wait to see this fantastic facility built and being used by our local sporting teams and community” Cr Greer said.

“This $418,000 project will deliver a new on-site facility with shared amenities and storage for sporting and other equipment.

“This facility will be a great asset for the Caboolture Sports Club Group, as well as local sporting clubs who regularly use the sporting grounds including North Lakers Softball Club, Lakes Football Club and the Redcliffe Triathlon Club.

“Council recently entered into a community lease with the Caboolture Sports Club Group for the management of its Aurora, Kinsellas and Woodside sports grounds in North Lakes, to allow local sporting teams to focus on what they do best – competing and fostering healthy, active lifestyles in our community.

“Together with this $418,00 investment, I hope to see Aurora continue to build its reputation as a fantastic sporting facility for North Lakes.

“With the tender this week awarded to Murphy Builders Qld Pty Ltd, work is expected to start on site in June and, weather permitting, we expect the new clubhouse will be ready to share with local sporting teams by October this year.”

Cr Greer said the project would add to the already fantastic facilities available to the community at Aurora Boulevard Park.

“In addition to its large sports field, the park boasts an exciting playground catering for all ages with a large slide and climbing net as well as a play truck and cubby,” she said.

“Together with a basketball court, skate park, dog off-leash areas and BBQ facilities, Aurora Boulevard Park is a great location for a family day out.”
