Terry White Chemmart Opens in North Lakes0
The North Lakes Specialist Medical Centre and Terry White are proud to announce the opening of Terry White Chemmart on level 1 of the North Lakes Specialist Medical Centre on 11th March 2019.
Terry White (AO) was in attendance at the March opening and Big Local had the pleasure of speaking with him on the day.
Terry White Chemmart North Lakes owner Navin Bakshi has been associated with the group for around five years. Terry White said, “Navin is the personification of the future of family pharmacy and I am very proud to have him on board”.
Terry White himself grew up in the Moreton Bay Region and opened his first pharmacy at Woody Point in 1958 with his second opening at Clontarf Beach in 1963, then Margate in 1964, Kippa-Ring in 1969 and expanding to the Sunshine Coast in the late 70’s and early 80’s.
Today, Terry White pharmacies number over 450 Australia wide and employ over 8500 people. Terry advised that another 30 pharmacies will open across Australia over the next six-twelve months.
Terry White pharmacies are service oriented offering such services as free Webster Packing (daily medication packs) and free delivery, detailed review of medications with a Pharmacist, return of sharps (diabetic sharps) and return of unwanted medications.
License approval for the pharmacy was initially rejected due to the Federal Governments’ strict pharmacy location rules.
It took almost two years for the pharmacy licence to be granted and required a concerted effort by pharmacist Navin, building owners Keymax and key specialist medical centre service providers such as the Renal Dialysis Unit and Moreton Bay Eye Hospital. The licence was eventually granted via special approval from Federal Health Minister, Greg Hunt.
