Luke Howarth MP confirmed “this funding is not an election commitment – it’s locked in funding and a massive win for our community”.

“I’ve been working hard to make this happen for Deception Bay because there will be so many benefits.

“This is great news for local tourism, local schools, our rising and future sport stars from all around the region and of course the Deception Bay Little Athletics community.

“When built, this will be the only community-managed tartan track in our region, with the closest being about an hour’s drive away.”

Luke Howarth MP is calling on the State Government and Moreton Bay Regional Council to invest a further $1M into the project to pay for fencing, nets and other facilities to support
the track.
