Save a Life this Christmas0
It may be hard to believe it, but another year has passed us by, and now comes the time when most of us are able to let our hair down and enjoy some time with our family and friends.
While some of us are enjoying a well-earned holiday, either at the beach, at home, or even an exotic overseas location, there are still people working hard in many different industries. This includes our tireless health workers, who do their best to ensure people can enjoy a safe, healthy holiday.
Of course, they’re not able to do it alone, and in some cases, will require help from one of our dedicated blood donors to help their patients.
The need for blood doesn’t take a break, and for the 25 000 Australians who will need a blood product over the Christmas week, it’s so important that we have a steady supply going into the Christmas public holidays.
To this end, the Blood Service is encouraging all new and current blood donors in the North Lakes region to support the Mobile Donor Centre, that will be visiting outside the Good Guys, on the 18th, 19th, and 20th December. Donating only take an hour of your time, and provides a life giving service to an Australian in need.
Being so close to all the shops on North Lakes Drive, it’s a great opportunity for people to cross a good deed of their list while taking care of some last minute Christmas shopping.
There is also a permanent donor centre at Strathpine, located only 15 minutes down the road at 349 Gympie Road, Strathpine. It is open 6 days a week, with sessions available both early morning, late evening, and on weekends, so that everyone can find a time to donate that suits them.
If you are interested in donating, or would like more information, you can visit donateblood.com.au, or phone 13 14 95.
If you run a business, or would like to donate as part of a community or church group, the Blood Service runs a group donation program called Red25. For more information on Red25, please call Liam Richardson on 3481 5908, or email firstname.lastname@example.org
