North Lakes Now Editor's Note November

Hello readers! Welcome to the November edition of North Lakes Now, where this month we shine the spotlight on Movember, the Australian founded charity addressing some of the biggest health issues faced by men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide. The Movember Foundation help to fund innovative health and medical research globally with the goal to reduce the number of men dying prematurely, 25% by 2030. Now in its’ 13th year, The Movember Foundation has funded more than 1,200 men’s health projects around the world and raised over $174 million worldwide, after spreading to South Africa and Europe and reaching North America in 2006.

editors-note-webNovember also marks the time of year for remembrance, and reflection of our fallen service men and women of all conflicts. Remembrance is not for two or three marked occasions of the year, but something many Australians hold close to their hearts every day.We will introduce you to a courageous local high school student, Chloe, who with the help of an amazing surgical team, has beaten the odds and has been given the opportunity to shine brightly in her life. Lastly, I would like to say congratulations to the Moreton Bay SES unit on winning their well-deserved award! We couldn’t be more proud and thankful for your tireless efforts in our Community!

Until next month!
