Laguna North Lakes’ Development Application approval to result in the delivery of a transformative development for northern Brisbane.

Laguna North Lakes – the architecturally designed development in the heart of the town centre has received formal development application (DA) approval from the Moreton Bay Regional Council.

The visionary precinct to be developed by The George Group in partnership with Pointcorp, will see the 1.7-hectare, $250 million precinct, set a benchmark for a mixed-use development in a traditionally suburban region, 26 kilometres north of the Brisbane CBD.

Laguna will deliver a 138-room hotel, 10,500sqm of A-grade commercial office space, 2,000sqm of health and wellness facilities, a 3,000sqm ‘resort-style’ restaurant and bar, and a publicly accessible aquatic centre with a lagoon-style pool.

Approximately 5,000sqm of fashion, food and beverage retail will provide a curated high-street retail precinct.

Anchoring the development will be the 3,500sqm Laguna North Lakes convention and events centre, which will be one of the largest purpose-built venues in northern Brisbane, catering for 720 guests banquet style and 1600 standing, over two levels.

Leading Brisbane-based architecture firm Richards and Spence have teamed up with acclaimed firm Nettleton Tribe, to design a classic and timeless architectural destination.

Construction is planned to commence in late 2018, with completion targeted for late 2020.

Patrick George, Director of The George Group, says the precinct has been designed as a destination that will be activated day and night.

“During the day locals, workers in the commercial tenancies, and indeed visitors to the region will enjoy a wide range of boutique retailers, cafes and outdoor dining, all revolving around a central tree-lined, pedestrian-orientated high-street, to be known as ‘Laguna Drive’.

“Families and hotel guests will also flock to the lagoon-style public pool or gym, and then after work and during the evening, the precinct will remain activated with the restaurants, bars and cafes offering a myriad of cuisines and experiences.

“The Laguna convention and events centre will also play an important role in meeting community demand for event and meeting spaces.

“To date there has been a wide range of local, Brisbane-based and national interest in leasing both retail and food and beverage tenancies. Interest in commercial tenancies has also been very strong.

“We are very excited that Laguna North Lakes will deliver a host of benefits for the North Lakes community that will make it quite unique to any other mixed-use precinct in a suburban context.  It will become the village heart of North Lakes and the Moreton Bay region,” added Mr George.
