IKEA North Lakes Introduces Containers for Change

0

RETURN-IT-IKEAIKEA North Lakes are implementing a RETURN-IT container for recyclable bottles and cans as a fixed collection point for everyone in the North Lakes community to drop off their recyclable bottles and cans.

Any bottles and cans from the IKEA store bins, and any unmarked bags, will have their 10c per container donated to the winner of IKEA North Lakes Living Local Grant scheme. Currently the Living Local recipient is Sunshine Butterflies located on the Sunshine coast, they provide information, support, resources and programs to individuals and families living with a disability in a safe and happy learning environment.

This initiative supports the Queensland Containers for change scheme. The scheme with RETURN-IT is simpler than others as you don’t need dedicated bags for the drop off and plastic and glass bottles can be mixed in your bag/box that you place in the container. They are sorted at the depots and then your refund is given to your account, the container location is next to our trailer parking and where our future Electric Vehicle charging will be located.
