Humanitarian Inspires North Lakes Community with her Passion for Helping those in Need0
Imagine working in a declared disaster zone and meeting a 10-year-old boy who had walked most of the day to get clean water.
Imagine hugging a stranger close to you as she broke down because her family was killed in an earthquake days before.
Humanitarian, Emergency Nurse and Paramedic Helen Zahos doesn’t have to imagine as she has been in these exact situations as a volunteer medical responder to disasters around the world.
Helen has cared for some of the world’s most vulnerable people and she will be sharing her insight and passion with BPW members and guests on Friday June 28 when Business and Professional Women North Lakes presents An Evening with Helen Zahos.
The intimate cocktail event to be held at North Lakes Hotel Cellar Room and is an opportunity for members of the community to come together and be inspired by Helen’s dedication to helping those in need.
BPW North Lakes president Laurene Coates said BPW members were passionate about advocating women’s issues in the community and actively supporting women where they could.
“This event is perfect for women who would like to find out what BPW is all about and have fun at the same time,” Mrs Coates said.
“Helen was recently in New York where she attended the United Nations 63rd Commission on the Status of Women. She spoke on a panel at the CSW NGO Forum on the Economic Empowerment of Women Entrepreneurs.
“Helen’s wealth of knowledge is remarkable and I am looking forward to hearing her speak at our special event.”
The evening will take place on Friday June 28 between 6.30pm-8.30pm at the North Lakes Hotel Cellar Room. Tickets are $30 including finger food and can be purchased at www.bpwnorthlakes.com.au
