Level 1 of the North Lakes Specialist Medical Centre is now open! We would like to warmly welcome the North Lakes Doctors and I-Med Radiology Network.

The new Health Centre will comprise specialist and ancillary medical services, particularly those which have previously been provided in metropolitan Brisbane up until now. There will be a broad coverage of services with an emphasis on health preservation and disease prevention. The North Lakes Specialist Medical Centre will help to bridge the geographic gap of private health services between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.

Local weather update

weather-17-June-2016

Another wet weekend forecast!!

Two weather systems are set to collide, similar to what we saw two weekends ago with the end result of an East Coast Low. The difference this time, is that we are likely to be the least affected with just some steady, soaking ran expected.

weather-17-June-2016

Starting Friday, an Upper trough (a cold mass of air) which is moving east across the continent will meet with a surface trough and drag moist air down into the system. We will start seeing the rain from Saturday evening and it’s expected to continue through to Sunday.

There is a chance of thunderstorms on Sunday.

Major Safety Concerns – Opening of Moreton Bay Rail Link delayed indefinitely!

0
Queensland-Rail-Logo

During Rail testing a significant flaw was detected with the signalling system.

“This testing has determined the signalling system currently installed for the Moreton Bay Rail Link does not meet the operational and safety standards found across the rest of the network,” The Minister for Transport, Stirling Hinchliffe said.

“Queensland Rail’s position is the signalling is not adequate to service a junction as critical as Petrie.”

He has also said that the testing found that trains on the line could effectively run a “red light” and there was a lack of sufficient stopping distance.

“The rail line will not be commissioned until Queensland Rail assesses it as entirely safe and fit for our entire peak and non-peak services,” he said.

Hopes of a pre Brisbane Ekka opening now seem out of the question as we wait to hear more.

North Lakes set to welcome first licensed Community Club

Construction begins on this exciting, new venture which is set to open in March 2017.

After nine months of exploring multiple sites across the North Lakes regions, a contract was placed on the parcel of land at 36-42 Flinders Parade in January 2015, subject to the Club receiving approvals for their development application and liquor and gaming licenses.

In December 2015, the Queensland Office of Liquor, Gaming & Racing approved the Club’s liquor and gaming license, triggering settlement on the land with Stockland just a few days later.

On Tuesday 17th May 2016, Queensland Treasurer Hon. Curtis Pitt officially launched construction on the North Lakes Sports Club. The Treasurer joined officials from the Caboolture Sports Club Limited, the group behind the establishment of the Club.

Construction is expected to take 10 months. Mayor Allan Sutherland said the project would create about 80 jobs during construction and 100 ongoing hospitality jobs.

“Call to Arms” to support Aussie Dairy Farmers

0
Wray-Organic-Cheese-Selection

It has been brought to the Nation’s attention that our Dairy Industry is in a massive crisis.

Waleed Aly has made the public aware of this dire situation for our Aussie farmers during a segment of The Project which aired on Tuesday night.

He announced his “greatest call to arms” in which he urged Australian’s to “eat more cheese” in order to help out this struggling industry whilst pointing out that 9 out of 10 Australians do not eat enough dairy products.

The catch is of course, that the dairy products NEED to be Australian made. The demand for our exported milk products was not as great as originally perceived which has completely disrupted the industry and fallen back on to the farmers.

Wray Orgainc Australian Milk

Thankfully, here in North Lakes we have an array of suppliers of Australian produce inclusive of Wray Organics. I personally prefer Australian milk and associated products over imported milk products.

Start date announced for long awaited Boundary Road Interchange

0
boundary-road-interchange

Works are set to commence on the Boundary Road Interchange during the middle of this year.

The upgrade will involve a six lane bridge including a shared path for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as four lanes
being soley dedicated to thoroughfare traffic. Longer slip lanes will improve traffic safety while providing better access to the highway on-ramps.

The new construction will take place north of the current bridge so to avoid disruption to traffic. The design will accomodate for the future upgrade of the Bruce Highway to eight lanes.
